Six killed, dozens injured in Russian overnight attacks on Ukraine

Six people were killed as Russia launched barrage of air strikes on Ukrainian capital Kyiv and southeastern Zaporizhzhia region on the night leading to Saturday.

Russian attack on Kyiv killed five people and injured 22 others, head of Kyiv region’s military administration Mykola Kalashnyk said. Kalashnyk also said that 22 people in the oblast, including three children, were wounded in the attack. Two of the injured, from the Brovary hromada, are still in serious condition. The Russian strike was verified to have hit six districts across Kyiv Oblast: Brovary, Obukhiv, Vyshhorod, Bucha, Boryspil, and Bila Tserkva.

In total, 184 sites sustained damage. These included 41 apartment buildings and 43 private homes. The attack also affected student dormitories, schools and other educational facilities, storage warehouses, industrial buildings, a church, unfinished structures, numerous non-residential properties, and around 60 vehicles. In several settlements, essential services were disrupted as well.

Kalashnyk said that the heaviest destruction occurred in the Obukhiv and Brovary districts.

Another civilian was killed and eleven others were injured in a Russian attack on a residential area in southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, Ivan Fedorov, Head of Zaporizhzhia region’s Military Administration said. Meanwhile, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported 153 combat encounters with Russian troops on March 13.
