Another Russian colonel killed in war in Ukraine

Another Russian colonel-general Abdulaziz Shikhabidov has been killed in the war in Ukraine, local media reported on Wednesday. It’s unknown in what direction of the frontline the senior military official was killed. Russian state media reported that Shikhabidov was already buried in Moscow’s Troyekurovsky cemetery.

Colonel Abdulaziz Shikhabidov, 38, had served as the commander of the Russian Air forces’ 76th Guards Airborne Assault Division since March 2025 upon Vladimir Putin’s order. He had played a key role in Russia’s full-fledged of Ukraine since three years ago. Shikhabidov’s death is the latest among the elimination of senior Russian military officials in Ukraine. Russia has not revealed its losses in the war in Ukraine. However, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as of February 2025, Russian combat losses amount to 839,040 troops.
