Russian troops have stepped up their offensive activity along multiple parts of the frontline as weather conditions shifted, with daily combat encounters surpassing 200 for several days in a row, Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Friday.
Posting on his Facebook acccount, Syrkyi said that the change in weather has allowed Russian forces to intensify their assaults across various directions, leading to a sustained spike in clashes. At the same time, he said Russian losses have risen sharply, with approximately 4,840 troops killed or wounded between Tuesday and Thursday alone.
Syrskyi emphasized that the scale and activity of the opposing forces require Ukraine to rely on more unconventional and flexible tactics. Ukrainian units, he said, are working proactively to take the initiative and continue pushing to regain lost ground.
During a visit to units operating in the southern sector, Syrskyi held discussions with senior commanders as well as leaders of assault and airborne formations. Together, they reviewed the battlefield situation, adjusted plans in response to Russian tactics, and clarified operational objectives for each unit within its assigned zone.
While on site, he also issued instructions aimed at improving logistical support, including the delivery of ammunition, drones, and other critical supplies.
Syrskyi expressed appreciation to commanders for making measured decisions and prioritizing the safety of personnel, and he thanked all ranks of the armed forces for their ongoing efforts in combat and for inflicting losses on Russian troops.
