Zelenskiy rules out territorial concessions and ceding of key nuclear power plant to Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has said his country will not recognize any territorial concession or Russian control over Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

Zelenskiy made the remarks during an online conference ahead of his planned meeting with US President Donald Trump. Zelenskiy clarified that his meeting with Trump will take place in media presence, adding that Ukraine’s negotiating team includes National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, Economy Minister Oleksiy Sobolev, Chief of the General Staff Andriy Hnatov, Presidential Office adviser Oleksandr Bevz, and First Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsia.

“We are currently on a plane to Florida, USA. On the way, we will stop in Canada,” Zelenskiy said. The Ukrainian leader confirmed his meeting with Canadian Prome Minister Mark Carney. “He and I plan to communicate online with European leaders, discuss all issues, share details of the documents I will review with the US President, and raise all sensitive matters,” he stressed.

Zelenskiy clarified that high on the agenda of talks with the US was reconstruction of post-war Ukraine. “We have clear goals and strategies for macroeconomic stability. We estimate that reconstruction will require about $700-800 billion. There is also a strategy involving a larger sum, but I don’t want to go into detail yet,” Zelenskiy said. The Ukrainian leader said that plans include establishing a reconstruction fund for Ukraine, along with a sovereign investment platform, a development fund, and a growth and opportunity fund.
