Ukrainian troops struck a Russian Ka-27 multirole naval helicopter in the Crimean Peninsula and drone control posts in occupied parts of Ukraine in the past two days, the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on Tuesday.

O overnight on February 17, Ukrainian forces hit Ka-27 naval helicopter near the settlement of Kamyshly in Crimea in a direct strike on the target. Ka-27 is built to locate, monitor, and engage submarines operating at depths of up to 500 meters and speeds of up to 75 km/h. It can conduct missions within a 200 km radius from its home vessel, functioning effectively in sea states up to level 5, during both daytime and nighttime, and in both favourable and adverse weather conditions.

Attacks were also launched in strategic facilities in Russian territory. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported hitting Ilsky oil refinery in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region. “As part of consistent efforts to reduce the offensive and military-economic potential of the Russian aggressor, Defense Forces units continue to strike key enemy logistics facilities deep inside its territory and in temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine,” the agency said in a statement. Regional authorities in Krasnodar confirmed the attack on the refinery that has an annual refining capacity of 6.6 million tons, and supplies to Russian military.  The refinery is the largest energy facility in southern Russia. In addition, the General Staff revealed attacks on Russian personnel in the areas of Rozivka and Liubymivka in Zaporizhzhia region.
