Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, known as HUR, has destroyed three high-value Russian military assets on 23 and 24 October,
Two Nebo-SVU radar systems and a self-propelled launcher from a Buk-M3 surface-to-air missile system have been destroyed in Ukrainian strikes on Kherson, Zaporizhia regions and Crimea, the intelligence service reported on Friday. The operation was carried out by specialised personnel from its Department of Active Operations under HUR.
Video released by the intelligence service showed the strikes and the aftermath of the attack, confirming that the Russian military equipment had been destroyed. In a statement, HUR described the attack as aimed at degrading Russia’s layered air-defense capabilities and to reduce the risk posed to Ukrainian civilians due to Russian those systems.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian 1L119 Nebo-SVU radar system in the temporarily occupied Kherson region.
The Nebo-M is a mobile, multi-band radar system capable of detecting and tracking aircraft, missiles, and even stealth targets at ranges of several hundred kilometers. They have been deployed mostly in Russian-annexed Crimea and near the frontline. Buk missile systems are also widely used in Russia’s war of invasion and have frequently come under Ukrainian attack.
