Ukraine has struck two key milary and energy facilities in Russia, local media reported on Wednesday. Units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck an ammunition depot in Novyi Svit settlement in the territory of eastern Donetsk region and Stavrolen facotry in Russia's Stavropol region involved in production of military equipment in two spate operations, the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces stated in Facebook post on Wednesday.
The Ukrainian media describec the attack as the continuation of efforts to reduce the production capacity of Russia's petrochemical industry serving its military-industrial complex.
Operating a full hydrocarbon processing cycle the facotry produces polymers used in the manufacturing of composite materials, casings, seals, and insulation for various types of Russian military equipment. It also manufactures components for UAVs.
Confirmed strikes and explosions were reported in both regaions, while the extent of the damage is still being identified. Earlier on Tuesday, the General Staff confirmed the attack on Orsknefteprgsintez oil refinery in Russia’s Orenburg region.
