UK, German, French leaders targeted by Russian “cocaine” allegations

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakaharova has accused French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German opposition leader Friedrich Merz of using cocaine on their trip from Poland to Ukraine.

Referring to a viral social media video alleging that that the three European leaders used drugs en route to Kyiv on a night train on Friday, Zakarova posted on Telegram app on Sunday: “The fate of Europe is being decided by utterly dependent individuals. It’s as if the Almighty Himself is lifting the veil on this putrid spectacle.” Zakarova claimed that many European leaders were drug addicts.

The video went viral on social media on weekend, with many netizens speculating that the leaders used cocaine in the train. They alleged that the video captured the moment Macron was hiding a bag of white poweder, while Mertz was holding a cocaine spoon.

Macron’s office hit back at Zakharov’s comments, with Elysee Palace objecting that the white object in the viral video was a tissue.

“This is a tissue. For blowing your nose” the palace posted alongside a close-up photo of the crumpled object on the train table. “When European unity becomes inconvenient, disinformation goes so far as to make a simple tissue look like drugs,” Elysee posted next to the photo of the three leaders.
