Russia launched missile and drones attacks on Ukraine’s Kharkiv and Kerson cities overnight on June 5, targeting residential buildings and injuring at least 13 civilians.
The attack on Kharkiv, the second-largest city in northeast of Ukraine was launched with Iran-made Shaheed kamikaze drones. Mayor of Kharkiv Igor Trekhov said the Shaheed hit the residential buildings in Kharkiv.
"These are not strikes on military targets. This is targeted terror against residential areas, against ordinary Kharkiv residents,” Mayor oTrekhov wrote on Telegram app, wile also sharing the footage of the aftermath of the attack. At least thirteen resident, among them two elderly, were injured during the attack. Six strikes were recorded, two of them targeted apartment buildings.
Ukraine’s southern Kharkiv region also came under Russian attacks on the night of June 5. The city was hit with multiple rounds of glide bombes, with a government building and resident buildings being damaged, local authorities confirmed. Kharkiv governor Oleksandr Prokudin said two civilians were injured as four guided aerial bombs were launched at the city during the period of 15 minutes. The governor said that the Russian strikes on Kherson caused greater damage to the Kherson Regional State Administration building, which had been attacked repeatedly in the past. The entrance of a residential building was also destroyed, and windows in the nearby houses were broken, while facades were damaged, Prokudin emphasized. Rescue workers have been brought to the area. Four persons have been rescued from the blocked basement.
