Russia air defence shot down 25 Ukrainian UAVs bound to Moscow

Russian air defence units downed 25 Ukrainian drones headed to capital Moscow on Wednesday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

The drones were downed over the period of 23 hours, causing limitation of operations of four major airports for a time, aviation authorities said. No casualties have been reported following the attack. The Russian Defence Ministry said its air defence forces destroyed 172 Ukrainian drones overnight, nearly half of them over regions bordering Ukraine.

Ukraine’s military said its drones struck the Yefremov synthetic rubber plant in Russia’s Tula region and depot of naval drones in Russian-annexed Crime Peninsula.

Ukraine has scale up long-range missile and drone strikes on Russian military, energy and other strategically important facilities in Ukraine and deep in Russian territory. On Thursday, the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed it launched British made Storm Shadow long-range missiles at a major Russian oil refinery in Rostov region.
