Russia’s nighttime drone attacks killed at least four people and damaged civilian infrastructure in Odesa and Kharkiv regions, Ukrainian officials said Monday.
A woman and her ten-year-old son were killed in a strike on a residential area of the eastern town of Bohodukhiv in northeastern Kharkiv region, while an elderly man was killed in the northern Chernihiv region. Another person was killed and two others injured in southern port city of Odesa. According to Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper, a 71-year-old man was killed in an attack on Novhorod-Siverskyi in the northern Chernihiv region. Two more people were killed in Russian strikes on Kramatorsk city in Donetsk region and Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka. Overall, 36 people were injured across Ukraine over the past day.
The Russian barrage of missiles and drones disrupted power supply to thousands of people amid below zero temperatures as the Kremlin continues its winter campaign against Ukraine’s energy grid. Following the attacks, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha urged the European Union to imposed a complete entry ban on Russians fighting against Ukraine, stressing that “this will set the right price for the wrong choices.”
There was no immediate response from the Kremlin over the Monday attack. Russia has repeatedly denied deliberately striking civilian infrastructure since its full-fledged invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
