Ukraine pounds Russian BK-16 amphibious boat, radar station in Crimea

Ukrainian troops have struck Russian army’s BK-16 transport and landing craft in waters off Russian-annexed Crimea Peninsula, the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on February 14. BK-16 amphibious assault boat was hit on February 12, in an attack aimed at weakening Russia’s combat potential, the agency said.  Being a Russian high-speed transport and landing boat, BK-16 was built to deploy naval infantry and support special operations missions. Developed by the Kalashnikov Concern, it is capable of carrying up to 19 personnel, including its crew. The General Staff described the BK-16 as “successfully hit”. In another operation in Crimea on February 12, Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian RSP-10 radar station in Gvardeyskoye village in the peninsula.

Russian military targets were also attacked eastern Ukraine.  A communication hub of the Russian Army was struck near Primorsk in southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, which caused disruption of Russian command and control functions in the area, according to the General Staff. Separately, on February 13, a Russian ammunition depot came under Ukrainian air strikes in Novoekonomichny district of eastern Donetsk region. It’s unknown what type of munitions were stored at the site and what was their quantity, with the General Staff stating that losses and the extent of damage caused to the Russian army are being clarified.

On February 12, Ukrainian troops carried out strikes on important military sites inside Russia, including an ammunition depot in Kotluban, Volgograd region, and a missile production facility in Michurinsk.

The previous night, February 11, Ukraine targeted the Volgograd oil refinery along with other military facilities in occupied territories. Before that, Ukrainian forces hit enemy military infrastructure both in occupied areas and deep within Russia, including a drone command center operated by the Rubikon unit. The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stressed that it would continue strikes on Russian military facilities.
